The Position: We are looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse and/or Licensed Psychiatric Technician for the Office of Refugee Resettlement (UCS) Program at McKinley.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour depending on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual Preffered (English/Spanish)
  • Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Two years experience as a LVN/LPT preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in a clinic/health services department.
  • Experience in triage, first aid and medication.
  • General Microsoft Office and Internet Competency
  • Excel
  • General Office Skills; Excellent Writing Skills
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to Commute to Various Sites on Campus
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to children who are ill. Primary concern must be given to the emotional and psychological needs of the child
  • Assist other employees in providing care when ill children are confined to bed
  • Work directly with groups of children to increase their understanding of nutrition, basic hygiene and the need for proper rest and exercise
  • Work directly with individual children with special medical needs (e.g. diabetes) so that they are better prepared to cope with their special needs
  • Work with individual and groups of children to help them understand procedures such as immunizations, blood tests and examinations
  • Work with children to help them understand the effects of medications
  • Write quarterly health summaries for each child as part of their overall treatment plan
  • Maintain appropriate medical supplies in the infirmary and the cottage
  • Provide assistance to staff regarding medical care of children, medication, first aid and wellness
  • Aid psychiatrists in obtaining court authorization for medication as required by individual counties and keep authorizations on file
  • Work with employees to help them understand the interrelation between a child’s physical and psychological needs.
  • Review designated IR's to ensure that the children's health is safeguarded
  • Following all governmental regulations in the area of Health Services
  • Following documentation and protocols for each contracted county
  • Complete all required documentation
  • Participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) plan as assigned
  • Other related duties as assigned
