System Administrator

The Company: McKinley is a highly respected welfare organization with a comprehensive array of programs and services – which touch nearly 1,800 lives annually – include short term residential treatment program (STRTP), Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services, and Special Education. The Position: We are looking for a System Administrator who is willing to embrace McKinley’s mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The System Administrator serves as the primary point of support to McKinley’s IT Network. The System Administrator is also responsible for providing first level support and troubleshooting for incidents reported by system monitoring, change requests, users support tickets or networking with IT peers. It will be necessary to offer after hours support as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $60,000 - $75,000 annually depending on experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or some other IT related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing information systems
  • Experience working in an environment supporting 300+ users.
  • In addition, one or more of following certificates is preferred:
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure (AZ-104)
    • CompTIA A+, Network+,Security+ or CCNA certifications
    • Google Workspace Certification
    • Palo Alto Firewall Networks 
    • AWS Certification 
    • Any technical certification relevant 

Other Skills Required

  • Exceptional technical knowledge of Azure, Office 365,  Google Workspace (Gsuite), Active Directory, VoIP, Hyper-V, Veeam, Windows Server Environment
  • Solid understanding of Networking
  • Hands-on experience implementing, configuring and troubleshooting: servers, routers, firewalls, switches, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS and other networks and other related technologies and applications.
  • Possess superior oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Able to work independently and organize multiple projects with minimum supervision
  • Able to work as a team member
  • Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professional boundaries with clients and staff
  • Able to represent the agency professionally and appropriately with all constituencies
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to drive to various sites on and off campus
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel


Key Responsibilities:

  • Must possess strong, proactive client-centric attitude
  • As a team leader, this position is responsible for training and supervising other IT employees
  • Must have strong communication skills (both verbal and written), be a team leader, and provide support for all team members when performing tasks under pressure
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure
  • Continuously make process improvements while simultaneously researching and proposing technology solutions to address business needs
  • Practices proper change control methodologies to integrate all computer software programs within the various departments of the agency to run at maximum efficiency and reduce duplicate efforts within departments
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all computer hardware and software including maintaining a log for each computer reflecting its maintenance history and configuration changes
  • Implement OS patches, OS system upgrades and/or changes as needed and in accordance with change management policies and procedures
  • Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories and security
  • Responsible for managing support contracts; annual renewals, addendums and terminations
  • Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs
  • Develops and communicates standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data
  • Provide resolution to end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, communication and coordination of support functions, including but not limited to hardware, software and/or operations
  • Researches, evaluates and presents new technologies for the complete agency, this includes all departments and agency functions
  • Installs and tests software upgrades utilizing established change control procedures
  • Collects and analyzes network and system performance measurements and provides reports to senior management upon request
  • Develops and implements disaster recovery procedures
  • Supports the organization's mission and values.
  • All other duties as assigned
