The Company: McKinley is a highly respected welfare organization with a comprehensive array of programs and services – which touch nearly 1,800 lives annually – include short term residential treatment program (STRTP), Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services, and Special Education. McKinley has 5 locations throughout southern California with our main campus located in San Dimas. The Position:  We are looking for a Parent Partner, who is willing to embrace McKinley’s mission and H.U.M.A.N values. This Parent Partner is to provide active, hands-on peer support to parents of youth/young adults receiving services at McKinley.  Effective peer support should be friendly, helpful, accessible and flexible. Peer support may be delivered in individual or group settings at the agency, in family homes or in community environments.  The role of the Parent Partner is to work collaboratively to increase family involvement within program areas while decreasing unintentional, programmatic, and institutional bias about parents.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $16.00 - $17.75 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Must be the biological or adoptive parent of a youth/young adult with special needs
  • Parent should have experienced level of care with their youth equivalent to the need
  • Bilingual skills preferable
  • Flexible hours consistent with the needs/availability of the clients
  • Program assignment
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Maintains a non-judgmental attitude toward families
  • Maintains required licenses and certifications to perform role
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds for filing

7. Individualizing Care:

  • Assesses the influences of key individual, family and community characteristics
  • Tailors services to unique individual, family and community characteristics
  • In consultation with the treatment team, modifies plans and services based on individual and family experiences

8. Documenting:

  • Completes required documentation in required timeframe and in accordance with all legal and qualitative standards
  • Balances privacy with documentation requirements

9. Behaving Professionally and Ethically:
