Transportation Coordinator

The Company: McKinley is a highly respected child welfare organization, conveniently located in the beautiful city of San Dimas, with 4 additional locations throughout Southern California. McKinley is nationally accredited, licensed by the California Department of Social Services,  and is certified by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. McKinley’s comprehensive array of programs and services – which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually – include short term residential treatment program (STRTP), Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. McKinley is known for the great care we take with clients and employees alike.

The Position: Coordinates transportation of students to and from school; takes attendance by checking students in using the Praxi system; assists with ADA recovery; acts as the liaison between the schools and maintenance to ensure the safety of staff and students while using agency vehicles.


Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $14.00 - $15.50 hourly depending on experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Prior Experience Working with Children and performing crisis intervention
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license and be able to provide own transportation in conduct of work assignments (mileage reimbursement)
  • Word Processing; Excellent Writing Skills
  • General Office Skills
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites on both campuses
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain Pro-ACT certification 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate transportation including developing and maintaining transportation routes and staffing schedule
  • Supervise the morning and afternoon transitions for Community and STRTP students
  • Distribute Daily Logs to teachers and maintain daily attendance through Praxi
  • Supervise Public School Routes and student recoveries
  • Coordinate and provide all students with transportation services to ensure timely and consistent school attendance.
  • Daily set up of van folders, provide drivers to cover AM and PM routes
  • Develop and monitor all routes/stops to provide safe and efficient transportation of students
  • Administer and provide oversight to the transportation staff training programs and procedures 
  • Develop and disseminate appropriate transportation policies and procedures agency wide
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, Department Of Transportation compliance and vehicle safety/licensing   requirements. Ensure that drivers are aware of and comply with all safety standards
  • Document and communicate all vehicle accidents to upper management and auto insurance claims representatives 
  • Check and sign all completed manifests sheets before turning them into Accounting
  • Schedule maintenance for all agency vehicles 
  • Review daily Transportation FYI’s and inform appropriate parties of incidents
  • Coordinate driver communication and review van cell phone policy
  • All other related duties as assigned.
