The Position:  The role of the clinician focuses on the provision of mental health treatment and prevention services to referred and assigned clients and their families and meet appropriate criteria.  These individuals are experiencing behavioral and/or mental health issues in the school, home, and/or community settings and have been brought to the attention primarily by school personnel. The clinician serves as a clinical advocate  for clients (and their families) and makes recommendations for mental health support services needed, while actively working collaboratively with community resources and referral sources.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $23.00 - $26.00 hour depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Valid registration or licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW, AMFT, LCSW, LMFT, APCC, LPCC)
  • Prior mental health service experience strongly preferred
  • Prior DMH mental health experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other office-related software
  • Strong analytical ability required
  • Possess superior oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Able to work independently and organize multiple projects with minimum supervision.
  • Able to work as a team member.
  • Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professional boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Able represent the agency professionally and appropriately with all constituencies.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites on and off campus
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds for filing

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the coordinator of care for the assigned case load.
  • Provide mental health services including day rehab, family therapy, individual counseling, specialized groups as needed 
  • Consult with an interdisciplinary team for initial assessments and treatment needs.  Direct cottage child care staff in determining on-going treatment needs and evaluating treatment strategies.
  • Meet with each child for individual therapy at a minimum total of 1 hour weekly.
  • Plan, implement and provide mental health services to clients.  
  • Initiate and maintain contact with parents, establishing a therapeutic relationship aimed at reunification or other appropriate treatment goals.  Provide parents or legal guardians with information regarding child’s progress.  Arrange home passes and follow-up on the outcome of these visits.
  • Believe that people can change; demonstrate an ability to understand the psychosocial needs of clients.  Understand the need to set limits and intervene in an emergency, or refer situations to residential staff for assistance.  Provide consultation as needed to leaders of resident group meetings.
  • Run group therapy meetings, as needed and under the direction of the Director of Residential Clinical Services.
  • Maintain contact with outside placing workers.  Provide written quarterly reports and discharge reports and participate in joint planning as necessary.
  • Maintain contact with school personnel regarding each client’s academic performance and behavior and attend all meetings as scheduled.
  • Facilitate cross- campus therapy groups as assigned.
  • Meet regularly with an interdisciplinary team to discuss treatment objectives
  • Provide crisis intervention
  • Remain on call for clinical emergencies
  • Regularly take responsibility for the agency’s clinical on-call phone over the weekends.
  • Participate in chart reviews and other QA functions
  • Maintain all required documentation on a timely basis and in accordance with contractual and regulatory standards.
  • Attend all required supervision, department and agency meetings.
  • Take responsibility for on-going development of professional skills.
  • Attend all required agency training
  • Participate in the agency’s Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) plan as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
