Supervising Social Worker

The Position: We are looking for a Supervising Social Worker, who is willing to embrace McKinley’s mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The purpose of the Supervising Social Worker is to provide supervision to Social Workers, Social Workers in Training, and Interns.  A caseload may be assigned as needed.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $59,000 - $64,000 annually depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited or state-approved graduate school in social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology, or social psychology.
  • Three years’ experience in the field of child welfare
  • One or more in an administrative or managerial position
  • MSW Required, LCSW Preferred
  • Must have experience in social work, permanency planning, 
  • Experience coordinating a program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other office-related software
  • Strong analytical ability required
  • Possess superior oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Able to work independently and organize multiple projects with minimum supervision.
  • Able to work as a team member.
  • Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professional boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Able represent the agency professionally and appropriately with all constituencies.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites on and off campus
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds for filing

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION
    • Conduct treatment planning sessions; responsible for ensuring all reports by social workers are reviewed and completed in a timely manner.
    • Reviews social workers casework, ensures their compliance with agency’s policies and procedures, and all applicable laws and legislation.
    • Responsible for case file review, to ensure relevant documentation of services is accurate and complete, i.e., Quarterly Reports, Progress Notes, Dental, Medical, psychological and clothing allowances.
    • Conduct assessments or investigations involving allegations, complaints, and matters pertaining to deficiencies and non-compliance by foster parents.
    • Maintain ongoing and open communication with Intake and QA departments: All communication shall be documented.
  • TEAMING AND ENGAGING

    • Supervise Foster Family Social Workers in all areas of work.
    • Assist in the hiring, evaluating and disciplinary action of workers as needed.
    • Conduct orientation and training for prospective foster parents.
    • Evaluate, assess applications, and complete family evaluations in the form of the Written Report as per RFA of potential foster family applicants, including doing in-depth home studies as necessary for permanency planning.
    • Evaluate and assess children for placement.
    • Develop and update needs and services plan and ensure the services are provided as specified in the case plan.
    • Monitor the intake and termination process for each minor.
    • Provide consultation and support services to resource foster parents.
    • Attend school individualized Educational Plan meetings as necessary.
    • Complete all required documentation related to placement of children in the foster family program.
    • Assist in the coordination and supervision of training sites and the provision of trainings to prospective and certified foster parents.
    • Assist in the coordination of the completion of adoption home studies for all resource foster parents.
    • Assist in the coordination of the provision of mental health services including psychiatric services to children in their respective region.
  • EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT
    • Demonstrate an ability to and coach FFA Social Workers to set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served.
    • Interact both verbally and in writing with a variety of county and/or community resources.
    • Use personal vehicles for business purposes and for transportation of clients.
    • Actively participate in the agency’s Program Quality Improvement (PQI) process as assigned.
    • Recruitment and training of prospective adoptive families.
    • Accept/Review applications for adoption by individuals and families seeking to adopt.
    • Oversee the scheduling of home inspections and SAFE home studies for prospective/current resource families.
    • Monitor, complete and/or review & approve SAFE home studies for families based upon state and agency regulations.
    • Coordinate pairings of resource families with potential adoptive children in coordination with local child welfare services through participation in matching events, informal/formal case presentations and adoptive placement signings.
    • Manage and maintain a regional adoptions caseload for all children in adoptive placement through monthly home visits.
    • Responsible for communicating with all prospective adoptive families and maintaining contact throughout the process of adoption to provide ongoing support, counseling, consultation, information, and referrals as needed.
    • Provide support and intervention assistance to Social Workers, Foster and Adoptive parents.
    • Supervise Adoptions Social Workers to effectively manage the flow of information and documentation in the office monitor the progress of pre-adoption/adoption cases.
    • Maintain awareness of State Licensing and changes to assure that program policy and practice reflect compliance.
    • Educate the community about Adoption Alliance services and adoption related issues.
    • Develop and facilitate a support group for all regional adoptive families.
    • Maintain positive relationships with county liaisons and track program outcomes, including contracts with outside agencies.
    • Participate with children and staff in special events and celebrations (finalization hearings, etc.) as needed.]
    • Respond to emergencies when contacted.
    • Believe that people can change; demonstrate an ability to set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served.
    • Participate in all meetings as directed.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
