Community Engagement Coordinator

The Company: McKinley is a highly respected child welfare organization, conveniently located in the beautiful city of San Dimas, with 4 additional locations throughout Southern California. McKinley is nationally accredited, licensed by the California Department of Social Services,  and is certified by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. McKinley’s comprehensive array of programs and services – which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually – include short term residential treatment program (STRTP), Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. McKinley is known for the great care we take with clients and employees alike.

The Position: To work with the management team at McKinley to develop an effective community engagement strategy with clear objectives, execute the strategy, and measure effectiveness to ensure that desired objectives are met.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $49,500 - $57,700 annually depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Outstanding presentation skills including public speaking
  • The ability to travel to the various communities McKinley serves, current California driver's license, and insurance, with good driving record.
  • Strong command of computer software
  • Ability to foster community relations.
  • Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and ability to work outside customary business hours.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Must have effective communication skills including strong writing skills.
  • Must be able to compose newsletter articles, flyers, and press releases as well as exhibit demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media such as Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Demonstrated time-management skills. Flexibility with changing, multiple priorities and the ability to remain focused to meet targeted timelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with Creative Content Software
  • Ability to use administrative software to update websites

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring McKinley has a presence at various community-based meetings, and assisting the McKinley management team in arranging for participation as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining a calendar that highlights key events in our communities.
  • Promoting McKinley at various fairs, events, and exhibitions.
  • Hosting community events at each of McKinley’s regions.
  • Collaborating with HR to recruit volunteers and coordinating their participation.
  • Maintaining social media accounts and web site.
  • Maintaining collaterals such as brochures and promotional materials.
  • Serving as McKinley’s liaison to various volunteer groups.
  • Assisting in the coordination of major gift in kind campaigns (i.e. Holiday season gifts).
  • Serving as McKinley’s Brand Custodian, ensuring that the name, logo, and tag lines are used consistently with the approved style guide.
